Farm Viability

Know Your Cost To Grow

Our premier farm viability program, Know Your Cost to Grow, was developed to provide diversified vegetable farmers with a step-by-step process for determining their crop specific costs of production and a framework for using cost of production information for business decision-making.

In October 2021 the Center for Small Farms and Community Food Systems and Oregon Tilth will be co-hosting the 5th National Farm Viability Conference. This biennial conference is focused on strengthening farm sustainability, building stronger and more resilient local food systems and supporting long term profitability of farming and agri-entrepreneurs from start-ups to generational businesses. It offers professionals in the fields of farm and food business planning, financial planning, agricultural financing, farmland conservation, agricultural market development, and food hub management the opportunity to learn from and with colleagues, develop new skills, and connect with farm viability professionals from across the country. This year’s conference will take place in a fully virtual format from October 1st thru October 29th.
