Small-Scale Equipment Field Day
September 22, 2015
Oak Creek Center for Urban Horticulture (Corner of 35th and Western)
844 SW 35th St, Corvallis
12 - 6 pm
Finding the right tools and equipment can be challenging for small farmers. Having the right or wrong equipment can greatly effect efficiency of operations and make a significant impact on farm profitability.
OSU Extension Small Farms Program is hosting a small-scale equipment field day at the Oak Creek Center for Urban Horticulture. Multiple tool-makers and suppliers will bring equipment and tools for farmers to try out, see in action, and ask questions. Classes and demonstrations will be held throughout the day.
Bring your hoes, pruners and other hand tools in for sharpening! Michael's Mobile Sharpening Service will be present to sharpen your edges ($4 - $12 per tool)!
Stick around for the Equipment Showcase and Panel Discussion at 4:45pm! Farmer Panel will start off by sharing some of their own equipment innovations and/or favorite tools and then open the floor for you to share yours. Allen Dong (I Tech Designs) will be sharing his solar food dryer design; Josh Volk (Slow Hand Farm) will share his hand carts; and Jeremy Mueller (Excelsior Farm and Johnny’s Tools) will share his flame weeder. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring in tools, pictures and stories of their own equipment innovations as well as your challenges and ideas for equipment that would help improve the efficiency of your farm operation. OSU Engineering students will be attending and listening to your ideas to inspire their senior projects.
A big thanks goes out to our sponsors that made this event possible!:
